A deeper glimpse into the soul

2001 was the year of Sarah Connor! Her debut single Let's Get Back To Bed-Boy!, hit the bulls-eye in the spring of that year: Number Two in the German Single Charts,
Top Ten ranking in countries all over Europe, and the number 15 spot in the European Top 100. After just a few weeks, Gold Records in Germany and Austria followed, and the music channel VIVA awarded her a Comet in the category of National Newcomer.

After the sexy R'n'B hit French Kissing, Sarah showed a softer, more introspective, though no-less passionate side on the follow-up. With From Sarah With Love, the recording artist once again gave impressive evidence of her powerful voice. Little wonder that the single moved into the Number One spot of the German single charts for weeks, and went Gold after only a few days, eventually selling over 750,000 singles to score triple-Gold. And in Austria and Switzerland as well, the single went Gold and Platinum, respectively.

With pride Sarah Connor gave us her first album: Green Eyed Soul, which shot straight to Number 3 in the German charts, and after only a week hit Gold, and then Platinum shorty thereafter. In Austria and Switzerland, the album went directly into the Top Ten, also going quickly Gold, as well as finally making Platinum in Switzerland.

"In America in the '60s they had R'n'B music being played by white artists and it was called 'Blue-Eyed Soul.' My eyes are green, my music comes from the soul….Green Eyed Soul," explained Sarah, about the choice of the title.

Together with her Producers Kay D. & Rob Tyger ("Let's Get Back To Bed-Boy!" & "French Kissing"), Bülent Aris (Backstreet Boys, etc.) and Triage, Sarah worked for months on her freshman effort. 'Often I was driving to the studio twice in a night, just to work on one or two things on a track. I'm a perfectionist, this album is my baby! I wanted everything to be perfect, and I'm proud of the result!" said Sarah, explaining the long time it took to complete the project.

As the work on Green Eyed Soul was wrapping up, Sarah got another surprise: TQ sent her a song he had written and produced especially for her: Can't Get None.

Green Eyed Soul showed many facets of Sarah Connor in an impressive light. Beside the Hit Singles you find on her album smooth ballads (From Sarah With Love), heavy R'n'B numbers (Every Little Thing; If You Were My Man), slamming Hip Hop sounds (Can't Get None; Magic Ride (guest feature by TQ) and naturally the finest Soul (Where Do We Go From Here).

If U Were My Man is one of the must-do numbers of my stage show. It's simply incredibly powerful and the audience response shows more and more that I'm not alone in my opinion about it.

Magic Ride (Whatever U Wish 4) has already become one of my favorite numbers. Since TQ wanted, of all things, to be involved in it, I naturally fell even more in love with it. You can't hear it without dancing!

When you read the title Make U High, you might naturally assume that it's something about drugs. That could be…but the drug is MUSIC, of course! That's the beautiful thing about music…it's the language of the World and it can cheer you up or captivate you. That's the way it is for me, anyway!

In My House is a cover of the Mary Jane- Girls that I always liked, back in the day. The double-meaning of the lyrics didn't hit me until later…

Where Do We Go From Here was one of the first songs that I recorded for my album and so I always think of it as my 'baby'

For I Can't Lie I was so often sitting, until late in the night, with Bülo in the studio. In the beginning we just couldn't come up with the right concept for the song, and so we put it on ice. But when I listened to it a few days later I suddenly got this wild urge to sing it. And now it's one of my favorite songs on the record.

Imagining is about a person that you love but can't reach…unfulfilled love and yearnings…

When I'm in love, I find everything about the other exciting and great. Every Little Thing explains about exactly the opposite situation. When you're hurt or simply have to look into the fact that it doesn't work with somebody, and everything the other does is just irritating.

Many people think, often, that I'm not exactly free to do as I please. In Undressed I make it clear that I'm the one who decides what I do, and how far I go. Undressed is a rebellious track and at the same time very very sexy.

Can't Get None comes from the pen of TQ. It was a real challenge! Before the recording session we were in the studio, rehearsing the slang.

When Man of My Dreams came about, I was terribly in love, and definitely wanted to sing a song for this man! I explained this to my Producers and so Man of My Dreams was born.
