Sarah Connor - Official Website

biography

In spring 2001, with her debut single Let's Get Back To Bed - Boy!, Sarah Connor hit the bulls-eye. At the side of US-star TQ, she jumped immediately to Number 2 in the German Single Charts, reached Top Ten ranking in countries all over Europe, and made the Number 15 spot in the European Top 100. After just a few weeks, gold records in Germany and Austria followed and the music channel VIVA awarded her a Comet in the category of National Newcomer.

Just a few months later, with From Sarah With Love (release date: Nov. 5, 2001), the then-21-year-old recording artist took success to another level. The single enjoyed Number One status in the German Single Charts for weeks, and after only a few days hit gold, not stopping until it reached sales of over 750,000, earning triple gold status! And in Austria and Switzerland, the single scored gold and platinum, respectively.

The first album Green Eyed Soul (release date: Nov. 26, 2001) continued the tradition of success by going right to Number 3 in the German charts, hitting gold after a week, not stopping until it achieved triple gold status with more than 450,000 CDs sold, peaking proudly at Number 2!

Little wonder that Europe-wide success wasn’t long in coming: in Finland, Greece, Poland, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Portugal or the Netherlands, Sarah Connor charted in the Top 10, and went either gold or platinum.

In summer 2002, the Echo Award winner (category: Female National Rock/Pop Artist) realized a life-long dream. She went on a major tour and primarily played to sold-out venues across the country.

Whoever assumed that this Gemini would need to take a breather after all this amazing success would have been mistaken. With her friend and idol Wyclef Jean, she went into the recording studio and in just one night recorded the appropriately titled One Nite Stand (Of Wolves and Sheep) (release date: Sept. 2, 2002), a hot track which Wyclef not only wrote and produced for her, but sang with her as well.

One Nite Stand (Of Wolves and Sheep) was the first release off Sarah’s second album Unbelievable (release date: Sept. 30, 2002), and reached gold status in an unbelievable 48 hours.

In the middle of 2003, Sarah surprised her fans with very special news: she was pregnant! But before taking a well-deserved maternity leave, she had her second Number 1 hit in Germany with Music Is The Key (release date: Nov. 3, 2003), a track with the New York a cappella band Naturally Seven. Her next conquest was reaching the pole position in the charts with her first DVD A Night To Remember - Pop Meets Classic (release date: October, 13, 2003)!

In November 2003, Sarah released her third album Key To My Soul (release date: Nov. 10, 2003), which imitated its predecessor and immediately went gold, entering the charts in the Top 10.

The second release Just One Last Dance featuring Natural (release date: March 1, 2004) also climbed to the top of the German Single Charts, and also went gold with more than 150,000 singles sold. Just One Last Dance is thus already the second gold and Number 1 single from Sarah’s album Key To My Soul, which with CD sales of more than 200,000 has in the meantime gone platinum.

Although Sarah retreated for several months, she was able to, almost in passing, set another milestone in her career:
Her debut single Bounce entered the charts in early March 2004 and climbed to the Number 11 spot in the airplay charts. And it only took a few weeks to enter the UK charts, where Bounce climbed to the Number 14 spot in the British Single Charts.
Sarah thereby fulfilled every musician’s secret dream – a breakthrough in the USA and UK! But Sarah not only took the English-speaking countries by storm. In Japan, her debut album shot from 0 to 12 in the Japan Intl. Artists Charts!

For her magnificent international success, Sarah, in addition to artists like Outkast, Usher and Norah Jones, was awarded the World Music Award on September 15, 2004, in Las Vegas. She received the award in the category of Most Successful German Artist Abroad.

After barely a year’s break for her family, Sarah returned in November 2004 with her new single: Living To Love You (November 8, 2004). A moving ballad, which became the crowning conclusion of her success story this year: with Living To Love You, Sarah reached the Number 1 spot in the German Single Charts - after Music Is The Key & Just One Last Dance for the fourth time in her young career (From Sarah With Love, 2001) and for the third time in a row!

At the start of 2005, Sarah Connor embarked on completely new territory: At the side of Bully Herbig, she celebrated her screen debut in the animation film from the makers of ICE AGE: ROBOTS (cinema start: March 17, 2005). Sarah not only lent her voice to the adorable robot lady Cappy, but with From Zero To Hero (release date: March 7, 2005) she also created the title song.

Entirely along the lines of the song’s title From Zero To Hero, in the first week of sales the single shot directly from 0 to 1 in the German Single Charts and with more than 150,000 CDs sold also went gold very quickly! With this Number 1 spot, Sarah Connor reached the very top of the charts for the fourth time in a row. A masterpiece which, ever since MediaControl has been evaluating the charts, hasn’t before happened to a German artist!!

On March 21, 2005, Sarah Connor released her fourth album Naughty But Nice. The long-player captivates with up-tempo numbers, intensive soul elements, and this time guitars can also be heard more strongly in the foreground. But all songs are again sung by Sarah’s unique voice, giving them that very special touch.
In addition to the successful producer-team Kay D. & Rob Tyger, as well as Booya, pop songwriter Johnny Douglas (works with major artists, including George Michael, Kylie Minogue and Tom Jones) also contributed a song to Sarah’s fourth album with You’re The Kinda Man.

Little wonder that with her album Naughty But Nice Sarah Connor could also reach the pole position in the charts and then immediately attain both top positions, single and album, in the same week.
Already in the first 48 hours after its release, Naughty But Nice sold more than 100,000 copies and reached gold status! A few weeks later, with more than 200,000 CDs sold, the album went platinum.

But not only is Sarah extremely happy professionally – privately, things also couldn’t be better. In August 2005, Sarah and Marc Terenzi tied the knot at a romantic castle in Spain! The crowning of a great love.

Whoever thought that after ending her sold out and highly acclaimed Naughty But Nice Tour in the fall of 2005, Sarah Connor would take a well-earned break - that person underestimated the high-powered career woman! At the end of the year, Sarah was waiting with a very special surprise: Having a big soft spot for Christmas, she decided to release a Christmas album: Christmas In My Heart! A sentimental mixture of well-known German and international Christmas songs. This album also quickly went gold in Germany.

2006 was more peaceful for Sarah. She retreated from the hectic show business world and devoted herself entirely to her family and the birth of her daughter Summer. “Family is the most important thing for me!” Sarah says resolutely.

After a break of several months, in late 2006 Sarah Connor entered the limelight again and released the emotional ballad The Best Side Of Life (release date: Nov. 24, 2006). But the song wasn’t only the perfect soundtrack for the pre-Christmas period, it accompanied the famous Coca-Cola Christmas trucks on their Germany tour and also became the background music for the Coca-Cola TV commercial.

With five Number 1 positions in a row, 40 gold and platinum awards and music sales of more than 5 million worldwide, the name Sarah Connor is considered a guarantor for extremely successful pop music.

But Sarah Connor is much more than just a successful pop singer. Everything that Sarah does, she does with complete passion, devotion – and always with her complete heart and soul in it.
In spring 2007, Sarah Connor followed this inner voice again and on March 30, 2007, released the album Soulicious, an homage to her idols from the American ’60s and ’70s. Hidden music gems can be heard next to soul pearls and almost forgotten hymns. Songs like I Never Loved A Man (The Way That I Love You), Part Time Love or Your Precious Love, songs from the most important black music era. All songs were recorded live and by hand in studio Saal 4 (Room 4) of the former “Berliner Rundfunk” (radio broadcaster). Top-notch musicians, who had already worked with artists like James Brown, Lionel Richie, Erykah Badu, Joy Denalane and Fantastischen Vier, as well as a 48-person symphony orchestra, accompanied Sarah during the recordings.
The result was a traditional soul record with a contemporary feeling.

Sarah selected a very special context for her first major TV performance after more than two years: The Impossible Dream (The Quest) is the hymn for the big Henry Maske vs. Virgil Hill boxing match and for this occasion, Sarah will present the song on March 31, 2007, live at Munich’s Olympiahalle (Olympic Stadium).
